Save lives in Utah!

Hold a blood drive with ARUP Blood Services

The need for blood in Utah is at a record setting level for the hospitals that ARUP Blood Services provides blood to each day. There have been major increases in patients at all our hospitals. That is why we need help from more groups to hold blood drives to keep up with the demand and help save lives in Utah.

We have more children and babies in need in blood. We have more cancer patients than ever using a record amount of blood. We also have more serious trauma patients than ever. Our hospitals used to have one major trauma each week and now we see at least one or two each day.

Utah is growing very quickly and our hospitals are expanding to meet those needs and we need help with more groups that can hold blood drives and increase blood donations to our hospitals. It takes more than 500 blood drives each year to help our patients. We regularly hold blood drives with businesses, churches, high schools, universities, and other community groups.

The general requirements to hold a blood drive are listed here. We need at least one month advance notice, but at least two to three months is ideal. We also like to have a minimum 25 donors at each blood drive to make sure we are collecting enough blood for our local patients.

ARUP Blood Services will provide you with posters, fliers, and sign-up sheets (paper and/or electronic). We can set up inside at your place (if the space is large enough) or we can have our large bloodmobile for the parking lot. We bring the equipment, staff, and snacks for donors, we just need your help to get people to sign up and participate.

When you hold a blood drive with ARUP Blood Services you can know that every single donation will stay local and help the patients at:

  • Primary Children’s Hospital
  • Huntsman Cancer Hospital
  • University Hospital
  • Shriners Hospital for Children
  • South Jordan Medical Center
  • Farmington Health Center

ARUP will even call each donor the day after their blood donation was used at our hospitals to let them know that they have helped save a life.
